Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 12 May 2025

1. About These Terms

These terms set out the basis on which Sampatti Legal provides legal services to clients. Please read them carefully before engaging our services. By instructing us to act on your behalf, you confirm that you have read and understood these terms and agree to be bound by them.

Sampatti Legal is a law practice registered in Thailand, operating from 64 Lang Suan Road, Lumphini, Pathumwan, Bangkok 10330. Any queries about these terms may be directed to [email protected] or by telephone at +66 2 627 1485.

2. Our Services

We provide inheritance and estate law services to individuals and families with interests in Thailand. Our principal service areas are:

  • Asset Inventory Documentation — preparation of a structured written record of the client's property and possessions for family reference.
  • Property Succession Review — a written review of how the client's property holdings would pass under the current succession framework.
  • Multi-Asset Estate Administration — full administration of an estate comprising several categories of asset, with written progress reports throughout.

The scope of each engagement is confirmed in writing at the outset. Work outside the agreed scope will be discussed with the client before it proceeds.

3. Engagement and Instructions

An engagement begins when we confirm in writing that we are able to act and the client confirms their instructions. Until that written confirmation is exchanged, no engagement exists and no advice given in conversation, by email, or on this website should be relied upon as legal advice.

We accept instructions from individuals who are 18 years of age or older and have the capacity to engage legal services. Where instructions are given on behalf of an estate or company, the instructing person confirms that they have the authority to do so.

We may decline to accept an engagement at our discretion, including where a conflict of interest exists or where we are unable to provide the service to the standard we expect.

4. Fees and Payment

Our fees for principal services are set out on our website and confirmed in the engagement letter for each matter. Published fees are in Thai Baht and exclude VAT where applicable.

  • A.Asset Inventory Documentation — ฿4,200
  • B.Property Succession Review — ฿11,500
  • C.Multi-Asset Estate Administration — ฿14,800

Fees for work outside the listed services, or for matters of unusual complexity, will be agreed in writing before the work begins. Payment terms are set out in the engagement letter. We reserve the right to pause work on a matter where an outstanding invoice has not been settled within the agreed period.

Third-party costs incurred on a client's behalf — such as government filing fees, translation fees, or land registry charges — are payable by the client in addition to our fees and will be notified in advance wherever possible.

5. Confidentiality

We treat all information shared with us in connection with an engagement as confidential. We will not disclose client information to third parties except where necessary to carry out the agreed work, where required by law or a regulatory authority, or where the client has given written consent.

Our confidentiality obligations continue after an engagement has ended.

6. Conflict of Interest

We conduct a conflict check before accepting any new engagement. If a conflict arises during an existing matter, we will notify the affected clients promptly and take appropriate steps, which may include withdrawing from acting for one or more parties. We will not allow a conflict of interest to compromise the quality or independence of advice given to any client.

7. Limitation of Liability

We take care in the preparation of all advice and documents. However, our liability for any loss arising from an engagement is limited to the fees paid by the client for that specific matter, except where loss arises from fraud or wilful misconduct on our part.

We are not liable for decisions made by the client or their family on the basis of information provided during a consultation that did not proceed to a formal engagement.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under Thai law.

8. Intellectual Property

Documents prepared by us for a client become the client's property on payment of the relevant fees. The methodologies, templates, and working processes we use remain our intellectual property. Content published on this website — including text, design elements, and structural materials — is owned by Sampatti Legal and may not be reproduced without written permission.

9. Website Use

The information on this website is provided for general reference only and does not constitute legal advice. Visitors should not rely on website content as a basis for any decision without first consulting a qualified lawyer about their specific circumstances.

We make reasonable efforts to keep website content accurate and current, but we do not warrant that it is complete, error-free, or up to date at the time of reading. The law changes, and individual circumstances vary significantly.

10. Ending an Engagement

A client may end an engagement at any time by written notice. In that event, fees are payable for work completed to the date of termination.

We may end an engagement if: the client provides instructions that we cannot follow ethically or legally; the relationship of trust necessary for effective representation has broken down; or an outstanding fee has not been addressed within a reasonable period after notice. Where we end an engagement, we will give reasonable notice and assist the client in making alternative arrangements wherever possible.

11. Complaints

We welcome feedback and take complaints seriously. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service, please write to us at [email protected] or to the address below. We will acknowledge your complaint within three working days and aim to provide a full response within 14 working days.

If you remain dissatisfied after our internal process is complete, you may seek independent legal advice or refer the matter to the relevant Thai regulatory authority.

12. Governing Law

These terms and any engagement under them are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any dispute that cannot be resolved through our complaints process will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Thai courts.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. Updated terms will be published on this page with a revised date. The terms that apply to any engagement are those in effect at the time the engagement letter is issued.
